Playing dress UP

When it comes to wedding dresses, i opt for simplicity and comfort. Not too much bling bling or tight corset or bright colours. That is why i'm so in love with Grace Kelly's, Ivanka Trump's and Kate Middleton's wedding dresses. In fact when i sent in my materials to my dressmakers, the design would be somewhat similar to the above three mention. There'll be no traditional attire for me. Both receptions will see me in lace and chiffon dresses. I'll post some inspiration pictures soon.

I just picked up my dress for the groom's reception from Faizul. It was love at first sight. Once he has done the alteration needed from the first fitting and added the beads, i love it even more. It has a flowy skirts and 3-quarter lace for the top bodice. It is a simple dress and I believe less is sometimes MORE. You can't even see the beads from afar but it's ok, i'm not too bothered with that.

As i'm not renting any of my wedding dresses, i'll make sure that the dresses compliment me in every way. I might not wear them again but who doesn't treasure their wedding dresses?? I'm itching to wear them. Can't wait for both of the receptions to end. I feel like i put my life on hold for these receptions. Too many small details to do in between. It's hard when you have the reception dates and the solemnization dates so far apart even if there are just 3 months. When you want to get married, the first thing you have to do is set the date and make sure the venue that you wanted is available. This is what happened to me. I have to wait 3 months for an availability at the venue that I wanted. Since we have already paid the deposit, we decided to just wait.

Finally i have found the make up artist for groom's side and will immediately pay the deposit tomorrow. I've waited long enough. Am still contemplating whether i should wear another set of henna on groom's side. To those who has received the invitations, thank you for attending. Hope to see your happy faces soon.

Xoxo.

On Dresses

I'm so excited. I've been to two fittings each at Mimpikita and Faizul's. What's left on both dresses are the beadings on the bodice and veil. While Mimpikita will take a while to finish it, tentatively my dress will be ready a week before my reception, Faizul told me that he can finish my dress by next week. So double YAYYY since he has already completed my sister's bridesmaid's dress and it's beautiful.

Since i'm wearing white, apart from the materials that i've given Faizul for my dress, he added another layer underneath the dress to make it less transparents. Since i didn't expect the materials to be sheer, i'm quite thankful for that since i'm having that problem with Mimpikita's dress. That shows experience does have its advantages. Not only that Faizul is remarkably cheaper, he does amazing job as well. My dress looks exactly like what he sketches, while Mimpikita end product will vary a bit from the original sketches. Nevertheless, i'm looking forward to see both dresses.

One thing that i learned from all this;
Do Not Judge A Book By It's Cover.

Faizul's shop might be located at a very dodgy place but as long as he's there, i'll be coming to that dodgy place pretty often. He is definitely somebody that I'll be using again. Cheap & Talented. Heavenly combination.

As the days go by

It's been more than a month that i'm slipping into a new role of mine. Forty one days to be exact as of today. Our first Ramadhan as husband and wife and of course first terawikh together in our room with hubby as my Imam. I'm still trying to get used with my new role. Am not perfect but there's always room for improvement as hubby is very patient with me. Yes, knowing me for 8 years he tends to know my bad habits but to actually live together, he must be appalled with discovering my hairs all over the room. Well, scratch that!!!! HE IS APPALLED that he's finding all these long hair all over the room. HAhahahahahahahHahahahha!!!!!

Goodness, you see, my husband, he is a neat freak. A VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY ANAL person. His room used to be spotless, well until i came into the picture. Now there are books everywhere. Sometimes I hang my towel outside of the closet to dry it. My make up would be on the table scattered. Well you can feel his frustration. So now he make it a rule that I HAVE to vacum at least minimum once a week or max once every 2 weeks or whenever that he sees fit. He gave me some space to organize my books and ALWAYS put them back at the exact place once i finish reading them and not left them on a bed or bedside table etc. Same goes with tv's remote, aircond's remote, all-kind-of remotes need to be put in one place and one place only. He gave me more space to organice my make up kit. He WILL ALWAYS chastise me if i left my straightening iron or hair dryer still plug eventho i turn them OFF so now i make it a habit to straight away put them back in the closet once i used them. He is always annoyed that i tend to forget to close the closet so now whenever i realised that i forgot again and I can see that he wants to start "membebel", i will quickly apologized while smiling cutely (konon cute la taknak bagi dia BEBEL) and close the door. I think one of these days, we're gonna start killing each other!!!!

Another thing that I realised that I've changed in terms of my obedience towards him. I cannot NOT DO what he asked me to do. Nanti mula la rasa tak sedap hati, rasa bersalah, rasa berdosa, semua lah ada. Sometimes hubby would sakat me where he won't let me go out when I asked his permission. Time tu la mula la rasa sedih bagai, rasa tak puas hati tu ada tapi sedih tu lagi membuak-buak because again like i said i cannot NOT DO what he wants but nevertheless dia menyakat je, of course la i'm free to go out as long as he knows ;)

In 41 days, I still have a lot to learn. I need to grow up and accept my new responsibilities. It's a hard work but MashaAllah, getting married and being with your love ones, beats everything else. It's fun and i'm enjoying every single moment of it.

Hubby and I would like to wish Happy Ramadhan to all Muslim. May our lives be blessed ever more.

Henna Schmena

When i was a kid, we had this tree in front of our house where we use the leaves for henna. Well i guess we can call it a henna tree. I would occasionally get a handful or more of the leaves, grind them and put them on my fingers with plastic covering my whole hand and go to sleep. The next morning I would have a pretty henna on my 7-year-old fingers.

When I'm getting married, i knew that i wanted an elaborate henna on my wedding day. So I chose Henna Ratu Sehari. I google on some pictures of henna and emailed her. She came a day before the wedding at 10pm and she did my hands and feet in less than an hour. Do try her.

The dress

Continuing on my previous post;

3. Solemnization Dress

So i guess everybody knows who make the dress. At first i didn't love it but once everything is done with the beads, i adored it. The veil is oh-so-pweetty. I didn't particularly like the inner with the hard awning they provided as it didn't suit my face so i bought a chiffon tudung at Ampang Park to match the veil. Met with the Mimpikita team early January and here's the sketch that Nurul did for my solemnization;

My solemnization supposed to be in December on our 8th year anniversary. Nevertheless, i'm glad to be married now. Bliss ;) On our numerous fittings, we make some changes from the original sketch and Nurul changed the belt from a hooked ones to a chiffon belt with brooch. Questions-do you prefer to rent or own your own wedding dress?

Where to start?

How do I do my own review on the wedding?

I don't even know where to start.

Instead of a story which i'll normally do, i'll just segregate them into person of interest.

1) Sue Cantik- MUA

If you don't know yet, Sue Cantik is a guy. Nevertheless, Sue Cantik will be a "she" henceforth. She arrived at my place at 715am when i just finished bathing. She came with her assistant and started doing my make-up right away. She was warm and friendly, you'll feel at ease immediately. The make-up session lasted for 2 hours and when i'm done, i don't really recognise myself. I wasn't accustomed to full make up ever and it was my first time wearing fake eyelashes. I felt like there's something weird and hairy sticking on my eyes the first few hours. Once she was done, i think i kinda like the way I look. What do you think?

Of course I have to wear hijab as we are doing the ceremony in a mosque and boy, did she knows how to wear it to me beautifully. I don't even know how to wear one properly with the veil on. If you can afford her, try her once. Other brides have been so helpful by providing phone numbers in their blogs so i'll do the same. To bride-to-be, you can get her here ;

2) Danialhaikal- Photographer

I booked Danialhaikal for both of my events. Ijoy was a senior photographer who handles my solemnization ceremony and Aizuddin, the principal photographer will be taking my reception pictures this September. The pictures i posted below was taken by Ijoy. It was accustomed for Danialhaikal to give us the teasers of the pictures they have taken. It will took them 3 months to deliver the wedding album and all the pictures taken, hence the professional photos will take a while to be posted up. Ijoy came with Azlee at almost 8am when i'm in the midst of getting my make-up on. They knew Sue Cantik and her assistant so from the moment they arrived, they were chatting up the storm. Really, both Danialhaikal team and Sue Cantik really make my day as they make me laugh with their conversation and it definitely ease any jittery i was feeling. Pagi2 dah happening and gelak besar, suka kan? Both of these guys are really friendly and it makes you feel like you know them for years as you can jokes and talk to them easily. Their pictures are beautiful as well. And they are among the cheapest you can get in the market and the quality is still top-notch.

Well for other vendors, i'll do the review later.

On an entirely different note, my sister just gave birth to a baby boy last wednesday. I was still in Bali for my honeymoon and the minute mama mms us the baby's picture, i was inching to go home so bad, Bali was immediately forgotten. LOL ;)

He's so cute. I'm supposed to pick them up later at the hospital. Baby Rafael is coming home. Sorry Ryan, Rafael might be my new favourite baby to play with. *mommy-mode ON*
